Ramblers F.C. is a soccer club in Co. Galway Ireland.
They play their home games in Leitrim in East Galway. Ramblers were established in 2003 by Brian Flaherty, Donal Nevin Tom Tierney, Michael Flanagan, Aidan Spaight and Michael Keating as a junior team that expanded into under-age leagues in 2007. After a good showing in their first season finishing third Ramblers clinched the league title in 2005 with a 3-3 draw on the final day of he season courtesy of the right boot of Michael Regan in Kilnadeema. In 2007 the Ramblers under-age was established by Brian Flaherty John Lynch and Richie Davies 2008 saw more silverware as Ramblers won the M.J Crowe cup with two goals from David Tierney the winner in extra time described by John Geraghty as "Thierry Henry styhle". Ramblers under-age had great success in 2009 as the under 11's done the league and cup double with two Conor Brown goals in the final, the under 12's also won the cup with goals from Mickey Lynch and two from Niall Maloney as they defeated Athenry 3-1. In 2010 Ramblers junior team won the league again this time under Shane O Looney but lost out in the cup final. At the end of the season Ramblers joined Brian Mcdonagh's Ballinakill United. Success continued as the under 12's won division 2 and lost the cup final in 2011 to Bearna the run to the final included a 2-1 win in the semi final against the then Connacht champions Salthill Devon as Mickey Lynch scored from the halfway line and Ronan Murphy scored the winner on a great night in Leitrim. 2012 another good year as the under 14's won the division 1 league and cup double winning the cup final with goals from Aaron Murray and Eanna Murphy in a 2-0 win over Corrib Celtic. Ramblers reached the 2013 MJ Crowe cup final again but went down 1-0 to Salthill Devon. Ramblers as of 2013/14 season have a junior, under 9, under 11, under 12, under 13 & under 16 teams. |
